Now Western NC can buy fresh, local foods all year round

December 3, 2009

Asheville, NC
With the inception of Winter Sun Farms NC, people can enjoy healthy, locally grown food is possible even in the wintertime. This Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA) is a program of Blue Ridge Food Ventures in Asheville. Once a month from December through March, members of this receive fruits and vegetables from local farms, frozen at the peak of freshness.

Winter CSA's are a huge step for consumers. The availability of fresh food purchased from local sources is scarce, at best, in the winter. Winter Sun Farms NC was birthed from a CSA in upstate New York where it had taken off like mad. See my post from 2008 about Winter Sun Farms in New York.

At the time of this post, there are a few shares left for WSFNC. Check out the website, www.wintersunfarmsnc.com, to learn more.
